ABOUT THE ARTIST

Addison Vincent is a creative from Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where an early fascination with images, objects, and the stories they hold quietly shaped the artist he would become. He went on to study art history and business administration at the University of Hartford, grounding his curiosity in a deeper understanding of visual culture. After graduating with honors in Visual Communications from the Katharine Gibbs School in 1999, Addison stepped into the world of commercial graphic design, sharpening his eye for the power of visual communication.

Yet the pull of fine art—of making work with his own hands, on his own terms, never left him. Addison shifted his focus fully to the studio, embracing a practice that moves fluidly across media: photography, digital manipulation, mixed media, and the more classical traditions of acrylic and oil painting. His versatility reflects a restless curiosity, a desire to explore how different materials interact and can shape meaning.

Throughout his career, Addison has created commissioned works for private collectors, businesses, stage productions, and even short stories, bringing his visual sensibility into a wide range of creative collaborations. His original works have appeared in galleries, wineries, breweries, bars and coffee shops across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, each exhibition adding another chapter to his evolving artistic narrative.

Today, Addison serves as the Creative Director at Artworks Trenton, Trenton, NJ’s downtown visual arts center. His role blends artistry with community leadership: curating exhibitions, shaping gallery programming, connecting artists and community partners, and helping bring to life major events like Art All Day. His commitment to fostering creativity and expanding access to the arts has earned him recognition from the Art Educators of New Jersey, earning him the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Arts Education in both 2020 and 2021 for his work with AENJ and Mercer County Youth Art Month.

Addison’s story is one of continual reinvention—an artist who follows his instincts, embraces new mediums, and built a life centered on creativity, community, and the belief that art should be made, shared and celebrated.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“My work centers on what I think of as the nature of things—the quiet, often overlooked spaces where the human condition meets the natural world. I’m drawn to the subtle rhythms of existence: the way thoughts drift, how emotions settle, and how the world around us mirrors our internal landscapes.

Each piece begins as a single, expansive thought or feeling. I rarely start with a fixed plan; instead, I allow the work to unfold intuitively. I create organically, letting instinct, memory, and emotion guide my hand. This process becomes a kind of dialogue—between myself, the material, and whatever is stirring beneath the surface of consciousness.

As the work evolves, its deeper theme gradually reveals itself. Near the end of the process, I often recognize what my subconscious has been exploring all along. The finished piece becomes both a discovery and a reflection: a visual record of the inner terrain I was navigating, and a reminder of how much of our experience lives just beyond language.

In this way, my art becomes a bridge between the seen and the felt, the deliberate and the intuitive, the world outside and the world within.”
